Titan Brecon Middle DistanceTriathlon
The Titan Brecon Middle Distance Triathlon was held at Parc Bryn Bach again this year and the volunteers and supporters on the day did us proud. We had excellent feedback from both the organiser and the athletes. Thanks to all that gave up their Saturday to help out.
From Clive Cooksey:-
“What an excellent group of marshals we provided for the Titan Triathlon at the Park today.”
The praise and gratitude that was expressed by athletes and race organisers during and after The event should fill you with pride. Thank you to Danielle at start and finish area, Ruth, Helen and my daughter Joanna on first feed station, Stephen, Catherine and Alan. Sara and Lydia. Sian and Karen on water station. Sue and Nathan. Caroline Bobbie, Maricel on return feed station. You were all terrific.
The conditions were much too hot for competitors and marshals alike but they stuck to their tasks with a smile and plenty of words of encouragement. You earned your Event T shirts without a doubt. You have already been booked for next year’s event by James Biggs the event organiser and the offer of a free entry to any of his other events throughout the year.
Mathew Ellis and Mike Matthews both participated in the event in some very challenging conditions. You can view the results here.
Salomon Trail Marathon Wales
Julie Cashell and Sam Standerwick travelled to North Wales for the Salomon Trail Marathon Wales. They both entered the half marathon race which takes place in the scenic Coed-y-Brenin forest in Snowdonia National Park.
Having run the race before and not had a great run last time, Sam was determined to teach the course a lesson and with a 16 minute course best in hot conditions, she sure did! Julie had a cracking race coming 1st in her age category.
Caerphilly 10K
With temperatures in the mid 20s forecast for the 10am start, everyone was preparing themselves for what would be an extremely tough run. Run entirely on the road, the majority of the route was exposed to the sun and with very little wind, conditions were unpleasant at best. Thankfully, kind residents along the way were spraying runners with hoses.
Notable Honours
- Beth Jones (1st Female Junior)
- Damian Williams (1st M50)
- Jill Matthews (3rd F60)
- Men’s Team (3rd)
- Women’s Team (3rd)
