Snowdonia Marathon 2018

Long training runs, long races, month and months of preparation. The Snowdonia Marathon took place this Saturday and there were some cracking results for the tough, tough course.

Pre-Race

During the Race

Lee, Melanie and family made the annual trip to the race to support not only our club but anyone else that needs it.

I know he’s my husband but Lee made me super proud today, he ran with every single runner (whether they wanted it or not!), I think he did close to a marathon himself! – Melanie Phillips

Much respect to Seargent Major Lee Phillips, Melanie Phillips and Family today for driving up to Snowdon again to support our troops – TOP SUPPORTERS! Apparently Lee ran HM back and forth! – Damian Williams

After the Race

The Day After the Night Before

There were seven PBs to report this week for club members –  Martin Thomas in 18:48, Owain Williams in 21:06, Marcus Smith in 22:45, Clive Lawrence in 25:02, Chris Cummings in 25:26, Jayne Rist in 25:40 and Sian Steadman in 28:48.

Trellech Beacon Dash

A hill start and climb to Trellech Beacon didn’t stop club members from cracking a smile, although these shots were taken on the final ‘nearly there’ downhill stretch.

Sarah’s Anti-Pap Disguise

Senior Male Award

Congratulations to Martin Thomas who took second Senior Male (6th overall) in a cracking time of 00:40:48.

FV40 Award

Congratulations to Nicola Jukes who was Second Female Vet.

Cam I’r Bannau

Steve and Katie Hamer were representing the Green Army at the tough, and no doubt Cam I’r Bannau race in the Brecon Beacons.

Great Gwent Poppy Run

It was a toss up between me going to either the Great Gwent Poppy Run or the Trellech Beacon Dash. Fortunately for those at the Poppy Run I opted to stay dry and went to Trellech. There are a couple in the bottom photo that we need to join the Green Army so that we can get an additional London Marathon ballot place (no pressure!).

Sunday Runs

Lonely Shepherd

Suzie, Dai and Sharon were making the most of the clocks going back by heading out for an early morning run to the Lonely Shepherd.

Giffy’s Gambol

Stephen Price, Ian Munro, David Kempton, Kim Price, Adrian John Markey, Hayley Jackson, Delphine Jones, Melissa Pearce and Helen Williams headed up to Pontsticill Reservoir for a 13-miler and apparently Kim brought the titty tape!
