Rose Inn: Race 2

The second race in the 2018 Rose Inn Series took place on Tuesday evening and like the first in the series it was well attended by the Green Army.  Thanks to Johnny Lam from San Domenico RC for the awesome photos.

Results

parkrun

There were a number of PBs to report at parkrun this week – Jonathon Astley: 18:13, Daniel Evans 19:00, Colin Clarke 20:40, Ian Line 20:50, Taff Palfrey 22:47 and Beth James 27:00.

Susie Chan

We sort of had a special guest at parkrun this week when ultra runner Susie Chan inadvertently ended up running with parkrun whilst running around the lake. The 4 x Marathon des Sables finisher was commentating for the TriMax Triathlon taking place at the park but didn’t get a time as she had forgotten her barcode!

I wonder if Fudgie had any influence on her coming to the area to commentate after meeting Suzie in Birmingham earlier in the week?

Titan Brecon Middle Distance Triathlon

Mathew Ellis competed in the Titan Brecon Middle Distance Triathlon on Saturday which features a 1.2 mile swim, 60 mile bike ride and 13.1 mile run. The event is also well supported by club members who given up their time to help marshal the event. Thanks to Adrian Markey for the photo above.

Forest of Dean Sprint Triathlon

Well done to James Williams for competing in the Forest of Dean Triathlon on Saturday.

Coity Fell Race

It was a little damp for this year’s Coity Fell Race but that didn’t deter members from the club from attacking it. Even this year’s anti-clockwise course with it’s initial incline didn’t put them off.

1st Ladies Team

After a bit of a mix up after the race, Sarah, Rhianydd and Helen were awarded 1st prize for the first ladies team home.

Rabbit Run

The Rabbit Run is a trail race starting and finishing in Merthyr Mawr. The 7.3 race features hills, trails, The Big Dipper sand dune and a water crossing.

Fortunately for the runners participating in this year’s Rabbit Run, the river wasn’t as high as last year, but it was just as cold!

Summer Speedway

The inaugural Summer Speedway 10k from Chepstow Harriers took place on Sunday morning and was a race aimed at bringing together some of the fastest runners Wales and the south West. It was however open to other runners.

Despite a tough field, we still came away with two awards – 3rd Lady for Lauren Cooper and 1st MV50 for Lee Aherne. As Lee had beaten the 1st MV40 he did have to question whether the cash prize for that runner was greater than his and if so he’d go for 1st MV40 instead!
