Louise Kirby Competes in Lee Valley Inter-Area Masters Indoor Challenge

Louise Kirby travelled to Lee Valley on Sunday 4th March to compete in the Inter-Area Masters Indoor Challenge. It was her first time competing in a Welsh vest and in the V50 category came 3rd in the 400m, 2nd in the 200m and 1st in the 4x200m relay!

Anglesey Half Marathon

Last Sunday Andrew Meadows ran the scenic Anglesey Half Marathon. The race takes in the iconic Menai Suspension Bridge and has Snowdonia as a backdrop. Andrew scored a PB in the race finishing in 01:43:15.

Kindest Person of the Week

During the week Bobbie Swift works in Weston-super-Mare and she keeps active by running with Trail Weston Athletic Club. This week she was awarded with the Kindest Person of the Week Award (very well deserved!). Bobbie did the right thing and accepted the award wearing a PBBRC t-shirt!

Inter-Counties XC Championships Loughborough

Congratulations to Stephen Williams, Sam Lewis Jones, Sam Jackson and Lauren Cooper who were representing East Wales in the Inter XC Championships in Loughborough on Saturday and to Rebecca Foley who was representing South Wales.

The Beast 10K

Some brave souls headed down to Ogmore Vale for the Cwm Ogwr Beast 10k. The free race organised by Cwm Owgr Running Club lives up to it’s name with over 1,300ft of climbing including the Beast itself. It’s a cracking course with some very fast downhill sections.

I Tamed the Beast The Beast Tamed Me

Fission 20:20

Kathryn Price competed in the Fission 20:20 20-mile race on Saturday and was her furthest run to date and great preparation for the Newport Marathon in April.

parkrun

There were no PBs to report at parkrun on Saturday but many were glad to be back running around the lake after the bad weather. As usual thanks to all the volunteers that make parkrun happen and a special thanks to Clive Cooksey, Nick Smith, Ian Davies and Adrian John Markey who were on snow shovelling duty. Clive shovelled the snow with such enthusiasm he broke the shovel!

parkrun Tourists

Elsewhere, Lesley O’Connell was in Mersea Island for a cross country style parkrun and her first run in 6 weeks, Peter Hire was warming up for The Beast 10k at Porthcawl, Nicola Jukes was at Penallta, Harry Davies was in Southwick Country, Lee Wilce was at Merthyr, Danielle Phillips was in Cardiff and Shane Roberts was at Riverfront running sub-20.

GLCL: Glebelands

The last GLCL fixture and the last XC fixture of the 2017/18 season and the Green Army didn’t disappoint with Adam Roberts and Sam Lewis Jones taking first and second in the men’s race and Lauren Cooper taking first in the women’s race.

There Were Ups

There Were Downs

There Was the Milo-Grainger Triptych

And No XC Would Be Complete Without the Terrynator Sprint Finish

How Many Runners Does it Take to Change A Tyre?

After The Beast and XC, there was no way that Darren was getting his hands dirty not when Laura’s keen to volunteer to get hers dirty!

Larmer Tree Marathon

You can rely on Sam to dress for the occasion with an outfit that matched the bling! This was the first in Sam’s double marathon fundraiser and was a tough one for her with stomach issues/dehydration in the first half of the race. Sam persisted throughout the race and finished. Larmer Tree done, next stop London!
