East Wales Selections

A couple of last minute selections were made for the East Wales team for the 19th Welsh Inter-Regional XC Championships with Stephen Carter and Ian Davies selected after the Gwent League fixture in Pembrey.

South Wales Selection

After her excellent performance at the Gwent League Brecon fixture, Rebecca Foley was selected to represent South Wales in the 19th Welsh Inter-Regional XC Championships.

Update: Unfortunately the championships were postponed due to adverse weather conditions. Hopefully the fixture gets rearranged so those selected get their opportunity to represent their region.

Happy 60th Birthday Mr Jolly

Rogue Runs Night Race: Mallard’s Pike

A bunch of Green Army nutters willingly headed out to the Forest of Dean on Thursday, at night, where wild boar roam, for a head torch trail race. And it was awesome! Rain had increased the amount of mud on the course making some sections particularly tricky but it didn’t stop all of us enjoying a well organised race. And being a Rogue Runs race, there was plenty of cake to tuck into at the end.

Chepstow Harriers member Gerry Ashton took some great photos of club members near the 8K mark.

Based on Sam’s light trail he must have been running in the dark!

parkrun

With PBB parkrun, cancelled due to the weather, some members went in search of others. The Swifts, Andrew Meadows, James Ashley and Nick Osman headed to Merthyr. The Swifts came first in their age categories and narrowly missed out on top 10 positions. Didn’t matter that the starting field was small as you have to be in it to win it!

Neal Thomas Joins the Ultra Club

Neal Thomas made the big leap into ultra running on Saturday with the Winter Race to the Castle 40+ miler in North Wales. Luckily he didn’t have any snow contend with but it was still a chilly one!

Julie to the Rescue

Heading to work at the Care Home in Llangynidr and with snow falling and a stranded car, Julie did the right thing and ran the rest of the way so that she could be there for the residents.

Stephen and Ruth’s Sunday Moaning Run

Sam Standerwick’s Parc Bryn Bach Trudge

Gary’s Curiosity Run

With the Regionals in Brecon cancelled, Gary Bartram used it as an opportunity to try out both his new Scott trail shoes and running in snow. He was the first to run around the track and then headed out onto the cross country course.

The ‘Snowed In, No Electricity’ Run

Rhondda Fach Valley

With no snow down in the ‘Port, I headed to where there was going to be plenty for a good run and lots of good photos. I headed just north of Maerdy where the trails between the wind turbines offered plenty of runnable route around a most picturesque forest.

Our Resident Ninja

A great photo of our resident photo-bombing ninja Sharon Newell at Pembrey. They didn’t suspect a thing!
