Growing up with both parents being fitness fanatics and owning a gym, it was inevitable I would pursue an active lifestyle. Studying at Cirencester College in Sports Coaching, alongside qualifying as an Aerobics and Fitness Instructor, were the building blocks for me to become a Ski Instructor in Canada.

From here I became a Nanny in Australia, which is where I discovered my ‘passion’ for running; used as a tool to unwind from work and distract me from home sickness! I returned home and completed my first Half Marathon (The Forest of Dean) , aged 19, in 1hour 49mins.

I continued running for enjoyment and entered numerous races as an individual, including parkruns. It was Bryn Bach parkrun where we discovered PBB Running Club, and Lee Aherne, who recommended we joined the club in 2014. Joining a club was always intimidating, but after a welcoming run to Trefil, we were hooked.

Discovering I was pregnant in 2015 didn’t put a halt to my running (after a thumbs up from the health professionals), and I continued to run through my entire pregnancy; until 2 days before the birth! During these 9 months, I found that running is just as important for the mind as it is the body. I had to change my mind set from chasing PB’s to simply enjoying my surroundings and encouraging others to keep going! Making me a huge advocate for staying active whilst pregnant.

My biggest achievement to date is completing Snowdonia Marathon! In the future I look forward to running parkrun with our daughter, and hopefully we will improve our punctuality to races.
