A big congratulations to Sarah Coote who was crowned 800m Welsh Masters Champion this weekend and also scored a 4 second PB in the process.

5000m Welsh Masters Champion

Good to see that Lee recovered from his night out at the Nag’s Head on Friday to take the top spot in the 5000m.

Gold and Bronze for Stephen Williams

Also competing were the regular Masters runners – Stephen and Mark Williams and Louise Kirby. Stephen Williams came away with a silver and bronze medal.

7th Birthday parkrun

There were 4 PBs to report this week with Daniel Evans finishing in 18:15, Sarah Jeremiah in 21:42, Paul Seed in 24:46 and Sian Steadman in 27:55. And it seems Ian Davies was mixing things up a bit running around the lake with the parkrun signs.

Hafod 9-Miler

Lonely Shepherd

It’s unlike Rachel to pick a hilly run for a Sunday. I bet she had Tony and Nicky running up that steep section a couple of times 😉 Think I need to give a few tips on how to set up a camera for selfie!

Tenby Ten Foot Swim/Run

Mike Matthews this week discovered the importance of race preparation:-

“Mmmmm, last minute entry to tenfoot swim/run. Rushed to start in my tri-suit, and bodged pull buoy , using calf guards to protect me from the jellyfish on my legs and arms- looked a right tit, was the only person of the whole event not wearing some form of wetsuit ????????. Haven’t tried this before so didn’t know what to expect #whataplonker anyway, jog down to beach (1st run), got in water, panic attack, it was f###ing freezing, 50m in goggles leaking, stopped several times during first 1600m swim to try to stop it. Out of water waiting for our group #saundersfootbaycaravanpark given a coat, has I must have looked blue, out for second run/walk 3k warmed up a bit. Back in at monkstone, Google’s leaking and felt like I was swimming through treacle, the currents and chop were quite bad, but never mind I had plenty to drink (mainly sea water ????) beating off the hyperthermia I think it took around an hour to do 1800m. Out for next run, thankfully past my caravan site, run ahead to have a shower, and put my wetsuit on (@carolinematt tried to talk me out of doing last bit, no ffffing chance ). Met back up with group, ran last few Km’s then back in the sea, slightly warmer but eyes were burning like I’d had bleach squirted in them. So….. lesson learnt , preparation and kit are essential. Will do it again though ????.”
