Torfaen Sprint Relays
The inaugural Torfaen Sprint Relay took place at the Olive Tree on Wednesday and the Green Army had a number of teams taking part.
The SSAFA 5k took place in Cardiff and featured Lauren Cooper, Andrew Gunter and Mark Williams. Lauren bagged another sub-17 minute 5k finishing in 16:58. Andrew Gunter finished in 19:21 and Mark Williams finished in 20:28.
Steve Jones 1 Mile Road Race Series: Race 2
The second race in the Steve Jones 1 Mile Road Race Series took place on Friday and featured some very quick runners particularly in the men’s race with Jake Smith, Ieuan Thomas and James Thie travelling up from Cardiff. And with the promise of a pint can of Stella for taking the PBBRC 1 Mile record, Harry Davies finished in a time of 4:37 beating Lee’s record.
Happy 100th parkrun Linda and Lorraine
Well done to Rachel for finishing 2nd lady at Riverfront, Newport. Fortunately for Rachel I had decided to head out of town so she was safe from the paparazzi! Nick Smith was also running along with other MPs to help promote the the health benefits of parkrun.
Welsh Athletics League Fixture 3
The third fixture in the Welsh Athletics League took place on Saturday with Sam, Sarah, Mark and Lee taking part in a variety of track and field events. Despite Sam’s best efforts, he couldn’t beat the club’s shot putt record!
Swansea Half Marathon
The Swansea Half Marathon is always popular with the Green Army and a number of members were there this weekend. There were some excellent results with many, many PBs.
The inaugural Mynydd Twyn-glas race took place on Sunday. Organised by Torfaen Runners, the 7 ish mile race was run by Sam, Richard and Andrew and fortunately the promised rain held off until everyone had finished the race.
