GLCL Road Series: Race 2 (Penallta)

Over 100 club members descended on Penallta for the second race in the 2018/19 GLCL Road Race Series with them all doing the club proud. The Men’s and Women’s A AND B teams all finished top on the day helping the club maintain top spots in both the Men’s A and B&C tables and joint 1st in the Women’s A and B&C tables.

A great photo showing what the club does best, supporting each and every runner into the finish.

Photobomber!

Stacey did the club proud be seamlessly blending in to the Pontypool team photo. Remember to seize any opportunity in future races to photobomb other team photos!

SSAFA 5K

What an amazing performance from Sam, Lauren and Harry at this week’s SSAFA 5K race. Harry finished in 16:18 (a cracking time considering he’s been nursing an injury) and both Sam and Lauren scored big PBs with Sam finishing in 16:44 and Lauren in 16:45!

Cath Cross on her Sub-30 PB

“Well it’s taken me 3 yrs to get there but I can now finally say I’m sub 30 (only by 2 secs). Fabulous journey and one the best things I have ever done was to do the first C25k up the park!! Met some fabulous people and made some special friends along the way x

Thank you all especially Lee Aherne , Lee Phillips Clive Cooksey and all the other fabulous leaders who made this possible!!! ????????‍♀️????????‍♀️

Big thank you to my best running butty Lisa James Lynch who listens to me swear all the time ❤️”

The Photobomber Strikes Again

This family travelled all the up from Bournemouth and wanted a memento of the run to take back with them. Little did they know that Mad Sharon was running that day.

Thanks Andy Davies for the photo of Nicola Jukes.

Crocodile8

Nevermind the tough 8 multi-terrain miles, the Green Army knows how to recover after a race.

Dragon’s Back Race

5 days, 315 kilometres with 15,500 metres of ascent across wild, trackless, remote and mountainous terrain. It’s a tough, tough race but club member Richard Price Snr tamed the Dragon this week.

Cannock Chase Fur Nations

Sam spent the weekend representing Canicross Cymru in the Fur Nations competition. It was the first time that Sam had raced with both Bron and Mabli at the same time.

Rack Raid Training

Good to see club members are out training for their Rack Raid routes for next week’s race. Don’t forget to keep an eye out for club paparazzi who could pop up anywhere!

Sunday Runs

Trefil to Bedwelty Pits

Cow Spotting

After a failed attempt at a trail run on Sunday (OS Maps said there were footpaths but they had overgrown or disappeared) I decided on a run around Redwick/Rose Inn. I couldn’t resist stopping to take some photos of cows and was then forced to stop mid-run when I encountered a cow traffic jam!
