Gozo Poster Boy

There certainly seems to be a pattern forming with the infamous Green Vest featuring on another race advert!

Newport Star Wars parkrun

There were a couple of Star Wars themed parkruns in south Wales to celebrate May 4th and some members made a great effort at the Newport parkrun at Tredegar House. Suzie even bagged a parkrun PB whilst running around as Princess Leia AND carrying her light saber.

RIP R2D2’s

Penallta

Another of the Star Wars themed parkruns in south Wales was Penallta where Steve Hamer ran around dressed as a Storm Trooper.

Steam Bunny Stomp

The Steam Bunny Stomp is a little 7.7 mile jaunt over a mixture of rocky paths and open fell land with a not so little 2,000ft of ascent. That didn’t stop Sian and Helen from taking 1st and 3rd female respectively and together with Rhianydd from taking the team prize!

Spartan UK South East Sprint and Super Weekend

Daisy and Owen were taking part in the Spartan UK South East Sprint and Super Weekend with Owen competing in the Age Group Super (13K) on Saturday and them both competing in the 7K sprint on Sunday. Both did amazing and Owen came 6th overall which gives him a qualifying place in the OCR World Cup!

Newport 10K & Marathon

The Green Vests were out in force for the Newport 10K and Marathon on Sunday and it was great to see new club members running in their vests for the first time. I noticed that on Facebook that there were some PBs and Nicola Jukes took 1st FV45!

Lee’s Back-to-Back Marathons

Lee had another storming run finishing the marathon in 02:46:36 on back of the London Marathon. He also took 1st in the MV50 category.

First Time Marathoners

Congratulations to Zowie and Hayley who completed their first marathon with both crossing the line together in 05:15:16/17.

St Illtyd’s Ultra

We had five club members running the ‘UK’s Friendliest Ultra’ on Sunday. Owain and Lee and both completed ultras before but it was Sarah’s, Claire’s and Neil’s first ultras and all were new to St Illtyd’s.

They had good support from Lucy Atkin-Smith, Dean Sullivan and David Kempton and the club paparazzi was on hand to capture them running through Bluebell Wood, The Chute and Swiss Valley.

Great Bristol 10K

Katie Hamer was in Bristol in Sunday for the Simplyhealth Great Bristol 10K.

Southampton Half Marathon

Peter Hire was in Southampton on Sunday for the ABP Southampton Half Marathon.

Race for Victory 5K

Looks like it was another great turnout for the Race for Victory 5K in Whitchurch, Cardiff. Not sure how anyone got on although Lee didn’t think 2 marathons in 8 days was enough and threw in a 5K race for good measure!
