Mumbles Duathlon

It’s great seeing club colours at different events. Daniel Evans was rocking the club Forza at the Mumbles for the 2018 Duathlon.

SIAB and Home Countries International Cross Country Championships

Our Sooper Cooper was representing Wales in Woolaton Park, Nottingham on Saturday for the SIAB and Home Countries International Cross Country Championships. Lauren became our first ever senior international runner last year when competing in a trail race out in France and now adds a cross country international race to her list of achievements.

parkrun

There were three PBs to report at PBB on Saturday. Claire Sullivan who had only recently commented that it felt like such a long time since she had a parkrun PB dipped under 24 minutes to finish in 23:57. The ever-improving Adrian John Markey finished in 24:30 and Arlene Osman crossed the line in 35:03.

Tourists

The London Landmarks HM Girls were at Southwark in full Green Army regalia for a warmup up for the big race that they’ve all been training hard for.

World Half Marathon Championships, Valencia

Richard Price Snr was in Valencia toeing the line with the world’s best runners at the World Half Marathon Championships in Valencia. Despite windy conditions, Richard finished in a great time of 01:32:02.

Cardiff Bay 10k

There were two popular races for the club on Sunday with some descending upon the capital for the Cardiff Bay 10k and other running the Merthyr Half Marathon.

2k Fun Run

Prior to the big race, Rob Bennett ran the 2k Fun Run with his daughter.

10k Race

After the snow of the previous weeks the conditions were perfect for the 10k race. Harry Davies was the first Green Vest home in 34:50 followed by Stephen Carter and Stephen Williams. There were PBs to report too including, but not limited to Ruth Butterfield and Suzanne Court.

First Run in a Green Vest

We had some first time racers in Green Vests at this race including Joanne, Nick Rhys Gregory and Michelle Cook.

Post-Race Club Photo

Some club members stuck around for a post-race team photo including a Pontypool runner that snook into shot! I blame Dave for allowing him into the shot.

Merthyr Half Marathon

There was a great turnout from the club to support the Merthyr Half Marathon. Lauren Cooper was first female home, Nicola Jukes was second female (and 1st vet female), Rachel Lewis was 5th female and Gavin Patterson was the Best Male Local Runner for being the first Merthyr boy home. Nicky Osman also chose this race as his first half marathon so a PB was guaranteed but still ran a great time.

Welcome Back

Jordan Hawkins returned with his first race of the year and hopefully the first of many.

London Landmarks Half Marathon

Carb-Loading

Athletes need carbs before a big race so the London Landmarks girls hit Brick Lane for some rather large slices of Victoria Sponge.

Mother’s Runner’s Ruin?

The Race

The incredibly winding course around London’s biggest landmarks didn’t stop runners from getting PBs including Alex Thomas who knocked 7 minutes of her HM PB and Maricel who ran her first HM non-stop!

Runderwoman!

New Recruits?

As pointed out by Andrew Meadows on Facebook, could this be a new feature for the website?

The Jacksons Were Also In Town

Hayley , Sam and Harry Jackson were also running the race with Sam running a cracking sub 1:30 race and Harry running his first half marathon.

Not Forgetting Those That Couldn’t Make It

Even though there’ll always be many more races ahead, it’s still gutting when you have to pull out of a race. Karen Thomas was all prepared to travel to London but illness meant pulling out at the 11th hour. It was the right decision but still disappointing to have to stay at home and watch the live feed on Facebook.
