Vests on Tour
I don’t think I’m the only one in feeling a little jealous of Jayne Rist who posted this photo of her in a Green Vest in the Dominican Republic.

Rogue Runs Night Race Series: Piercefield Park
The finale of the Rogue Run Night Race and after coming second in the first race, third in the second race, the ladies managed to take the top spot in a series that had been dominated by Forest of Dean AC. It was great having Kim “I’m an Animal” Price joining the night running team despite her not being a huge fan of mud. Luckily there wasn’t much on this course and there were two mid-race shoe washes to clean it off although she chickened out of taking a dip in the first one!
The course was quite different to the other two races with more open fields and two sizeable water features to wade through. The wooded sections were technical with many obstacles to avoid including a fallen tree. Sam Lewis Jones made it three for three with yet another fall as did Sarah. I managed to take a wrong turn towards the end and we all managed to avoid the worst of the rain.
Poor Sarah didn’t have much luck with her head torch, or the spare that was provided by Martin Chammings whilst on the start line.
“The Last of the night races!! Thank god!! A night mare from start to finish- battery going on head torch at the start. Thanks to Martin Chammings for lending me his spare.
Half way through managed to press wrong button and switched it off in a dark wood. Could I get the damn thing on again.. NO!! Pulled up. Eventually I did, then tripped and face planted the floor. I pulled up again as I Lost the will to live!!
I’m so glad I did get going again. 6th lady back and won the team competition.”

Joshie and Julie’s Birthday Bash!
Looks like a lot of fun was had at Julie and Josh’s combined birthday party on Friday night. A number of club members were in attendance as well as some from other clubs.
parkrun
No PBs to report at PBB parkrun but Gwent League the next day I’m sure everyone was saving themselves for the big day.
parkrun Tourists
Team Jolly was in a wet and windy Swansea and both Stephen Williams and Dave Kempton came first in their respective age categories. We’ll make a member out of Darren Gwynne-Hamer soon!
Elsewhere, Shane Roberts was in Cwmbran (3rd position), Danielle Phillips was in Cardiff, Jill and Phil Matthews were at the Riverfront and Andrew Meadows, Nick Gregory, Jonathon Astley and James Thomas were in Merthyr.
More Vests on Tour
More Vests on Tour photos were posted later in the week from Abbey Road in London and Stellenbosch, South Africa.
National Diving and Activity Centre
Sam Standerwick and Kath Jervis visited the National Diving and Activity Centre near Chepstow on Saturday morning to do something that many people wouldn’t be brave enough to do – go on a zip wire!
GLXC: Pontypool
A tough fixture at Pontypool today both in terms of the terrain and the intermittent hail and snow showers. We had a fantastic turnout for both the men’s and women’s teams and all members were supported on both races plus Tom’s and Sam’s races.
With such a loud sound system being used by the organisers it was great hearing the club’s name being mentioned so often and individual team members getting a shout out when finishing. And it didn’t go unnoticed when a number of team members lined up on the finishing straight to cheer on Arlene Fraser, the last member home in the women’s race.

Lydia’s 20 Mile 18-Miler
In preparation for the Limassol Marathon next month, Lydia Cawsey embarked on an 18-mile run (her longest run to date) and whilst it went well, she only realised at the end that the car was two miles away from where she finished her run!
Squeezing in a 10 Miler
