Rose Inn: Race 4

A fantastic end to a the Rose Inn Series with the club taking away more trophies than any other club! Sam Jackson and Beth Jones took 1st Junior Male and Lady, Kim Price took 1st FV35, Nicola Jukes took 1st FV40, Lee Aherne took 1st MV50 and 2nd Overall Male and Lauren Cooper had a senior lady prize. The ladies team also came 2nd.  There were other race honours and PBs to report and you can view the full list here.

Next time Stephen Williams tells you he’s off for a warm up before a race, be very suspicious. He headed out for a warm up before the race and then this photo surfaces.

Aneurin Bevan Memorial Run

A group of PBBRC members (Lee Phillips, Neil Lloyd, Clive Cooksey and The Swifts) took a large number of First Strides on a 5.5 mile run to the Aneurin Bevan Memorial to test out how they would handle the distance. To quote Lee, they “completed with aplomb”.

Happy 30th Birthday Fudgie!

James Fudge Thomas celebrated his 30th birthday on Wednesday with a truly awesome cake – both the PBBRC Vest and the Axwell cake made by Lauren.

Sharon Newell’s Mad Run

Sharon Newell headed over to ‘The Dingle’ on Thursday evening with Keri Young in search of a car and some random clothes. They may have done some running too!

“Cracking run this evening, we took ourselves off road over “The Dingle”, a bit of up and down, a few puddles, a bit of mud, horses and cows. Then we come across a lovely car which Keri took a shine too, and also found some clothes…Lovely they were….For some reason she had to try them on !!! Another eventful run….maybe we should take it more serious ????

Ceri’s Chicks Conquer Cwm

Ceri Caswell took a mix of club members and First Strides (Kathryn, Maricel, Sara, Lesley, Lee-Anne, Lisa – 17 in total) for a 10K run around Cwm. It’s great to see Maricel Jenkins-Belohorska and Sara Elizabeth running again.

PBBRC XC Recce

Clive Cooksey took Darren Swift and Danielle Phillips on a recce run of the new course for the first GLCL XC meet on October 8th.

Gower Sprint Triathlon

James Williams competed in the Gower Sprint Triathlon on Saturday morning in Port Eynon, Gower and featured a 750m swim, 24K bike ride and 5K run.

Billed as ‘Wales’ cheapest and most scenic half marathon’, the Port Talbot HM takes in the Afan Forest, the beautiful surroundings of Glyncorrwg Ponds and follows the former railway route through Pontrhydyfen and the birthplace of Richard Burton.

Salisbury 5-4-3-2-1

I decided at the last minute to book a place on the Salisbury 5-4-3-2-1 race. There were five distances to choose from – 10K, 21K, 33K, 42K and 50K – and rather than going for the 50K I was sensible-ish and booked a place on the 33K.

The race is in aid of the Fire Fighter’s Charity and named after the 5 Rivers (Avon/Bourne/Ebble/Nadder/Wylye), 4 Hills (Old Sarum/King Manor/Clearbury Hill Fort/Salisbury Race Course), 3 Large Country Estates (Clarendon/Longford/Wilton), 2 Castles (Old Sarum/Longford) and 1 Cathedral (Salisbury) that are all found on the trail race.

Cottrell Park Summer 10K

Keri-Lyn Jones, Kath Jervis, Dai Smout and Nicola Jukes competed in the Cottrell Park Summer 10K on Sunday. Nicola Jukes had a cracking run taking 2nd female position. Despite the big Bunker Hill, it must have been quite tame for Dai Smout!

Sunday Runs

Kim Returns to Sunday Runs

After missing the last few Sunday runs due to a chest infection, Kim has been itching to get out and earn her Mam’s Sunday Dinner and a cake or three with a long run. She was joined by Dave Kempton and Marcus Smith and their post-run cake party was gatecrashed by Sharon Newell.

Stephen Carter’s Non-Hilly 10 Mile Run

There was a great turnout for the sunny run along the canal around Crickhowell. And a long Sunday run wouldn’t be complete without cake!

Laura’s Loop

Laura Hire took Rhian White and Kathryn Price out on a scenic 13-miler around Rhymney, Pontlottyn and Abertwyssg.

Gary’s Marathon Training

Gary Bartram was continuing his training for the Chester marathon with a 15 mile run around the Brecon area.

Vests on Tour

Great to see members burning off all those extra calories whilst on holiday by going for a run in their PBBRC vest.

Kim’s New Footwear

Doing the Severn Bridge Half Marathon? Keep an eye out for Kim in her slippers. She says she’ll be running in them and once you put it out there, there’s no going back on it.

Jumbo Tent

The extension to our tent has been tested in preparation for the no doubt wet and muddy cross country season. There’s plenty of room for everyone’s kit now that the club is expanding.
