Weekend Roundup, May 12th – 14th
Another busy weekend for club members with road and trail races in the UK and abroad.
Cardiff Summer Series: 2 Mile
The first race of the weekend was the second race in the Cardiff Summer Series and many of those that attended the first race returned for the second fixture. Lauren Cooper performed superbly taking first lady in a time of 11:22. Next across the line was Sam Jackson in a time of 12:25 with James Thomas and James Ashley not far behind.
Hayley Jackson crossed the line in 14:46 followed by one of our latest members, Beth Jones in 15:38. Another Jackson – Harry – finished in 18:50 and ran unattached. Hopefully he’ll be a new recruit in the near future.
Our very own Danielle Phillips was running her 100th parkun today and chose to run it at PBB. Her mother presented her with an awesome and very tasty looking cake to celebrate the occasion.
Sian Price also joined the 100 club with her run at PBB.
Also on the day, Team Jolly (David Kempton and Stephen Williams) were testing out the relatively new Llanelli parkrun and Margrett Monk was a tourist at Amroth parkrun.
Congratulations to Ian Kent on sneaking under the magic 20:00 on home turf with a time of 19:55.
There were also numerous other PBs:-
- Jamie Parry: 17:53
- Jamie Howells: 19:40
- Sam Jackson: 20:27
- Darren Kippest: 21:31
- Gareth Williams: 21:32
- Beth Jones: 24:34

East Wales Regional Championships
Two team members (Lauren Cooper Stephen Mathers) represented the club at the East Wales Regional Championships on Sunday. Stephen Mathers got a gold in the 800m as well as a bronze in the 1,500m and 3,000.
Hereford Festival of Running – 10K, Half Marathon and Marathon
The Hereford Festival of Running on Sunday consisted of a 10K race, Half Marathon and full marathon.
Katherine Collins did amazing in the marathon getting a medal for 2nd female in the Marathon.
Llanelli Sprint Triathlon
Damian Caswell was flying the flag for PBB in Llanelli after competing in the sprint triathlon. He finished in 1:34:50 – 3 minutes faster than last year.
The always smiling Hayley Jackson competed in the 10 mile Sirhowy Challenge trail race completing the very tough race in 01:40:46.
Cwm Ogwr 5 Mile
11 PBB members with a love of hills (Hills are Friends!) headed to the Cwm Ogwr 5 Mile race on Sunday.
Katie and Steve Hamer travelled over to Berlin for the Big 25. Unfortunately conditions meant that Steve had to be treated for heat exhaustion at 13.5KM but congratulations to Katie.
Mikkeller Beer Mile
Fancy drinking 4 cans of beer and running a mile? It’s a lot harder than it sounds and Robert Gale found out in Copenhagen this weekend. The race starts with downing a can of 5% pale ale and then running 400M before repeating another 3 times. Vomiting is likely and you will feel bloated. The atmosphere is amazing though with encouragement from other runners and spectators.
Rob managed to drink the four beers and run the mile in a time of 10:15. The winner finished in a crazy time of 06:07 although the world record is 04:34!.
