Another busy weekend for club members with road and trail races in the UK and abroad.

Cardiff Summer Series: 2 Mile

The first race of the weekend was the second race in the Cardiff Summer Series and many of those that attended the first race returned for the second fixture. Lauren Cooper performed superbly taking first lady in a time of 11:22. Next across the line was Sam Jackson in a time of 12:25 with James Thomas and James Ashley not far behind.

Hayley Jackson crossed the line in 14:46 followed by one of our latest members, Beth Jones in 15:38. Another Jackson – Harry – finished in 18:50 and ran unattached. Hopefully he’ll be a new recruit in the near future.

Berlin 25KM

Katie and Steve Hamer travelled over to Berlin for the Big 25. Unfortunately conditions meant that Steve had to be treated for heat exhaustion at 13.5KM but congratulations to Katie.

Mikkeller Beer Mile

Fancy drinking 4 cans of beer and running a mile?  It’s a lot harder than it sounds and Robert Gale found out in Copenhagen this weekend. The race starts with downing a can of 5% pale ale and then running 400M before repeating another 3 times. Vomiting is likely and you will feel bloated. The atmosphere is amazing though with encouragement from other runners and spectators.

Rob managed to drink the four beers and run the mile in a time of 10:15. The winner finished in a crazy time of 06:07 although the world record is 04:34!.
